Bite Beauty Love, Bite Lip Set

July 20, 2017 Danielle D'Ornellas

Despite the fact that I've been doing a fairly large purge as part of the Kon Mari method this year, that doesn't mean I've barred myself from getting new products. Especially when it's something so cute that it ABSOLUTELY brings me joy - like the rose-themed Love, Bite Lip Set from Bite Beauty!

For those not in the know, Bite Beauty is a homegrown Canadian beauty line that is sold at Sephora and at specific Bite Beauty locations in Toronto, New York and in other major cities. Bite's line of lipsticks, glosses, liners and multisticks are all food-grade quality and done in small batches, to ensure that the organic ingredients still retain all their natural benefits. The formula of of all their products are consistently high-quality and moisturizing and I've found my Bite collection growing all the time. Check out my reviews of their Maple Mattes, their Nudes, Lip Pencil and more.

While I already have a multistick that I love (here's looking at you, Macaroon!) the kit won me over because it included not one but TWO full-size multisticks, and one of the new Pearl lip glosses which I've been eyeballing for awhile. And while I'm not normally somebody to coo over makeup packaging, this kit was no slouch!

First impression

The Love, Bite Lip set comes packaged in a super cute dusty rose metal tin, with very light branding on the case, just the Bite B on the front. It can easily be used as a chic container to hold products or other things and I'm currently using it as a tin for more of my Bite Collection! The kit also came with one of Bite's signature rounded mirrors in the same matching rose theme, super handy to toss in your purse or make up bag.

I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I really like the multisticks because they are truly a multi-use product. You may have seen some bloggers on YouTube doing full-faces (or as much as they can) with their multisticks. I've absolutely used them as cheek colour and lip colour (especially good in the summer when you want as little product on as possible!) and they are also formulated to work on your eyes. I'm a bit more particular with what I put on my lids and prefer powder so I don't use it there, but lots of other people do. I find I really like the Bite Beauty multisticks because I'm so forgetful when it comes to reappyling product and it fades away quite nicely, staining the lips slightly.

When it came to Cashew, it was love at first sight. I was really happy to find that this multistick is a slightly deep dusty rose/mauve that resembles the colours found on the cover and design of the case. It also is VERY on trend with all those 90s shades coming back in style, and resembles a ModelCo lipstick I recently purged due to being... pretty darn old. Cashew is a very strong colour that works nicely in all three spots (eyes, cheek, lids) and I know I'll be using it regularly.

Gelato however, was supposed to be a warm lavender but when I opened my stick it looked positively greige. It looked nothing like the colours that Temptalia or other bloggers reviewed. Not sure if it was just this set but my colours were WAY OFF Y'ALL. And not just, my skintone was different, like the colour looked OFF. I tried contacting Sephora but I would've needed to return the whole set, and as this set was sold-out, there was no way I could buy another. So while Gelato failed me, at least the other two were good.

Bite Beauty Rose Pearl Creme Lip Gloss

When I had long hair, I positively LOATHED lip glosses. I bike a lot and found that glosses were just ASKING for my hair to get stuck in it, or bugs or cat fur, you name it, it would get stuck on my lips. That is, until I nabbed a few Bite Beauty lip glosses in a Sephora Christmas deal a few years ago. I was shook. They were FRESH smelling, and glossy but not too tacky, and FULL of pigment with very little slide. Bite turned me into a lip gloss believer.

When their prismatic colours came out some months ago, I knew it would only be a matter of time before I nabbed one for myself, and the Rose Pearl Creme Lip Gloss is a beautiful addition to my collection. It's a bit of a reddish/brown hue, with these brilliant gold and violet shifting flecks. I've read a few reviews where people also mention green flecks, but I'm not able to see it myself. It sits nicely on the lips but you could apply over a primer if you want to make it easier to remove (I did find some glitter/sparkles rested on my lips for awhile after taking it off.) But this is a real comfortable, sparkly treat for your face.

So overall I'm fine with this set. Gelato isn't my thing but Cashew and Rose Pearl are SO FANTASTIC that it more than makes up for it. Do you have any of these products? Which is your favourite?

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
