Summer Skincare Project Pan 2017

July 12, 2017 Danielle D'Ornellas

It's been two months since I started cleaning house and adjusting my life thanks to the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up aka the Kon Mari method. And while I've made significant progress with my wardrobe, and my accessories, media and paper, I'm STILL working on purging my makeup and skincare, quelle surprise.

Over the last month I've refrained from buying any new skincare products and have been focusing on finishing what I already have, so what better way to commit to that, then with a new project pan? I haven't done one of these in awhile but I find that they are HUGE motivators for me. Because YOU, the AUDIENCE is watching. Yup. Pressure me all you want, please!

So here's what's on tap this month. I've been whittling away at some of these this month already and some will be easier than others, but let's see how much I can do before July is out.

Miracle 10 Cleanser 1 - I've tried a few products in the Miracle 10 line and while I don't quite see the benefit of them at their price level, they are nice to my skin. This cleanser is quite gentle and infused with aloe and vitamin E, and is perfect to use twice daily.
% Remaining: I have about 40% left so this one may stretch into August.

NIVEA Express Eye Make-Up Remover - Not my favourite make-up remover by any stretch of the imagination, but it works. Probably won't buy it again as I find it leaves way too much oily residue on my eyes/lashes.
% Remaining: About 15% left, and I use this daily so bye-bye soon!

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser - It's only a deluxe sample, but it feels like I've been using this cleanser for weeks with still much left to go. I was curious about the active ingredients in it, but haven't noticed much difference either way.
% Remaining: Who knows, it should already be empty!

Pixi Glow Tonic - I've never understood toner until THIS PRODUCT CAME INTO MY LIFE. I've heard people raving about this product for ages but it TRULY is a next-level toner.
% Remaining: 30% left. I use this every other day so I MIIIIGHT use it up in July, but pushing for August.

Dr Roebuck's Skincare Reverse Aging Serum - I've already written a pretty good review of Dr Roebucks skincare line last summer, but this line keeps coming back again and again into my life. Not only is this the second bottle of serum I've gone through, I have another one in the wings!
% Remaining: 10-15%, this will be done!

Dr Roebuck's Face Moisturizer - I love this moisturizer. As stated above, I reviewed this earlier and it offers a GREAT boost of hydration to my combination skin.
% Remaining: 20% perhaps? Moisturizer is hard to tell sometimes.

OZ Naturals Super Youth 2.5% Retinol Moisturizer - This moisturizer is amaaaaazing. It smooths out my skin and acts as a great base for makeup, dries quickly and leaves a hydrated, but matte, finish. Seriously considering re-buying. Check out my review of the Oz Naturals Hyaluronic Acid too!
% Remaining: Maybe 5-10%.

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream Moisturizer - I wrote a full review of this moisturizer two weeks ago so head over here to read it!
% Remaining: 20%

Shiseido The Skincare Hydro-Nourishing Softener - I've only started using softeners as a first step in my skin-care routine before toner, but this stuff is pretty nice. I'll probably shop around for another one though.
% Remaining: 20%

(Of course, now that I'm done writing this, I realize I chose 9 products which is an uncommon number, but that's alright!) Are you currently whittling away on some products right now? Do project pans work for you? Let me know in the comments.

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.
To celebrate our 14th anniversary, @thecjm and I made the best of it and ordered the set course from @alobaryorkville including some amazing scallops, a duck confit, amazing milk bread & a truly decadent millefeuille, streamed their Spotify playl

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
