Kiss and Make-Up: Reviewing The Lip Pencil & Amuse Bouche by Bite Beauty

Bite Beauty The Lip Pencil & Amuse Bouche Lipsticks

Now before I get to my review of The Lip Pencil by Bite Beauty, it's time for me to get real with you all for a minute. Like really real, so pull up a chair and get comfortable for a minute. While I'm no stranger to lipstick, nail polish, eyeshadow and the like, there are some parts of the beauty process that I may skip in my eagerness to put together a collected look. You know, like how some days you skip the foundation and use BB cream instead, or forgo concealer? Well, what if I told you that I've skipped lip pencils... about 90% of my beauty life?

Yes! It's true! While I may OWN a small handful (like... four) lip pencils that I collected in beauty boxes or in promotions, for my VAST lipstick collection, I'm woefully behind in the lip pencil game.

BUT THIS CHANGES NOW!

I always had the impression that lip pencils were coarse, drying and a total pain, as my first experiences of them were inevitably from the drug store. Call me SHOCKED when I got The Lip Pencil from Bite Beauty and discovered that NO, they can be smooth, creamy and while matte, not neccessarily drying or rough on the lips at all.

And CAN I tell you how great it is to be able to line my lips with something that STAYS when I'm wearing a dark lippie? (Of which I have many!) It's truly a thing of beauty. And considering I have a lot of love for Bite Beauty, it's no surprise it's lovely. I'm always happy to support a product that is Made in Canada too, and Bite Beauty's stance on being natural and pretty much edible make them basically the best in my books.

Bite Beauty Homeycomb, The Lip Pencil 020 & Maybelline's Stormy Sahara

Bite Beauty Homeycomb, The Lip Pencil 020 & Maybelline's Stormy Sahara

Here's Bite Beauty's Amuse Bouche in Honeycomb lined with The Lip Pencil 020. I'm not usually one for a peachy-beige nude but this lipstick is almost a dupe of Maybelline's Stormy Sahara which is one of my favourite lipsticks, except the formula of Bite's is better so I already know I'm going to be picking up a full tube sometime soon.

I found that 020 was a really good lip pencil that I could fill in for a light "my lips but better" look, but it also acts as a great adhesive base for your favourite beige/peach toned nude lipstick. I didn't find the Lip Pencil formula too drying and with Honeycomb slicked on top, my lips felt moisturized and fabulous.

Bite Beauty Whiskey, Lip Pencil 044 and Cognac

I also got to test out Bite Beauty's Amuse Bouche in Whiskey, lined with the darkest of The Lip Pencil's in 044. It's funny because Whiskey is literally an Amuse Bouche version of Bite's Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Cognac, which is one of my favourites. 044 is a great pencil for this and other dark shades because it can lean dark brown or dark burdundy depending on what colour it picks up from the shades around it.

I DID find that it was hard to fully fill in my lips with 044, it's a slightly darker shade, the pencil wasn't patchy per se, but it was hard to make sure my lip colour wasn't bleeding through. It does a fantastic job as a base for Whiskey however, and also my other favourite dark Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon in Cognac!

Overall I'm totally enamoured with these pencils, and I definitely am going to pick up a few more shades to match some of the reds and deeper rose colours in my collection. You can pick up The Lip Pencil from Sephora for $20CAD and they are worth every penny.

These products were provided for free for review by Influenster and Bite Beauty but all opinions are my own.

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
