Skincare Review: IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream, Cleanser & Eye Cream | Darling Magpie

I received these products from IT Cosmetics for review but all opinions are my own

When other beauty bloggers do projects where they do a "full face" of makeup from one brand, I always watch but I know I wouldn't ever do it myself. I find it rare that I'd like the entirety of what one brand is offering to even attempt to do something like that. Perhaps I could do a whole eye look with one brand, but that's about it! But when it comes to skincare, IT Cosmetics is putting in a STRONG attempt to take over my skincare regimen, especially since their Confidence in a Cream/Eye Cream and Cleanser have all blown me away!

I know I say it and I say it often, but makeup and beauty is truly worth nothing without a good base. BUT I ALSO believe that after a certain price point, a lot of skincare is just good marketing trying to sell you the next greatest elixir of youth/beauty/some other hype without being able to back it up. I feel like over the last few years, many brands are drifting closer and closer to that price point for me which is too much, but at the same time, I think it's still good to try these products and see which ones might actualy be worth the price. IT Cosmetics is a bit pricier than I'm used to spending on skincare (but not THAT much more) but is it worth it? Let's find out.

IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream

Size: 60ML Packaging: Jar Cost: $62 CAD/ $48 USD
My Skintype: Combination, mild fragrance sensitivities

The first product I tried from IT Cosmetics was their CC cream last year which shot to the top of my list as one of my favourite products of 2017, which made me very excited to try out their skincare line this spring! And on first glance, I'm not disappointed.

This moisturizer is a rich cream that absorbs quickly, but doesn't "disappear" into the skin, it almost leaves a firming layer that feels quite pleasant, that leaves a slightly matte look after applying. I tend to prefer cream based products as I find gel moisturizers dry me out, and this one enhances my skin instead. I noticed improvements in tone and texture after about 4-6 weeks of regular use of this product, and while I mix it up with a different moisturizer during the day, this is my night cream every evening. I genuinely LOVE this product and can see myself buying it again in the future.

The only things I'm not a fan of are the fact that the fragrance, WHILE VERY VERY LIGHT, is still noticable the first few times you use it, and also the packaging is, as usual, in a jar. Many of the ingredients in this product do not last long in their efficacy when continually exposed to the light and air. A pump would do much better. This seems to be an epidemic in skincare companies but maybe someday they will listen!

IT Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkling, Brightening Eye Cream

Size: 15ML Packaging: Jar Cost: $48 CAD/ $38 USD
My Skintype: Combination, mild fragrance sensitivities

I'm not a huge connossieur when it comes to eye products and don't generally search them out myself, but I do test them when I'm sent by a brand, and this is one of the first times I've truly LOVED an eye cream. Recently I discovered that my combination skin does NOT like gel moisturizers, especially close to my undereye area, and the last eye product I used was gel-based, which left my skin slightly drier than I'd like, and made my under-eyes feel crepe-y and weird. But then in came IT Cosmetics to the rescue! This cream based eye-product packs a punch and SO LITTLE is required to see results.

After about two weeks of regular use, I felt that the skin under my eye became so much smoother and relaxed, the crepe-y look was gone and while my smile lines are still there (obviously those don't go away) that area looks significantly nicer. AND IT FEELS AMAZING. I've been using it continuously now for more than eight weeks and I wouldn't have it any other way.

IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser, Skin-Transforming Hydrating Cleansing Serum

Size: 148ML Packaging: Squeeze tube Cost: $36 CAD/ $28 USD
My Skintype: Combination, mild fragrance sensitivities

Last but not least, the Confidence in a Cleanser. This sulfate and soap-free cleanser claims to be a cleanser and serum in one, while also strong enough to remove makeup from the skin. I found this claim to be true when it came to foundation/blush/bronzer, etc but I still prefer to remove my eyeshadow/liner/mascara with micellar water and cotton pads instead of scrubbing my eyes.

I did find that my skin was cleansed but not squeaky clean after washing with this cleanser, and it definitely had a nourished feel after washing, but I'd still prefer an actual serum step in between. Maybe people with oilier skin don't need it, but since mine is stil dry in spots, I found a serum still helped. This isn't the most essential product of this collection, but I did really enjoy using it, and will continue to do so! It has the same light citrus scent that was noticable in the Confidence in a Cream but in a cleanser I found it very refreshing and looked forward to using it daily.

So there you have it, the IT Cosmetics Skincare line super impressed me with the quality of their products, and while it's on the pricey side, I think it's rather worth it. ESPECIALLY the eye cream! You can find IT Cosmetics online, or at Sephora.

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
