Summer in the City: Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face Lotion

June 25, 2016 Danielle D'Ornellas

Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face Lotion

Do you love makeup? Do you love sunshine? Do you go out in the summertime? Then Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face Lotion & I have three words for you.

USE.

SUNSCREEN.

NOW.

(Note: It's for using, not eating.)

But seriously. I can't even count the number of times I SAVE my friends in the summer by being the only person who has brought sunscreen to picnics or beach parties. Guys, it's SO IMPORTANT. I'm in my early thirties now and I have to tell you, I can tell the difference between the people who take care of their skin and those who haven't. This is the decade it starts to catch up and my goal is to leave my thirties barely looking like I'm in it! If you need some ammunition for your friends, check out this great interview with Paula from Paula's Choice, great comments about what we consider 'aging' really usually means 'sun damage'!

There are two easy ways to do this.

  1. Choose a foundation or BB cream with SPF (I use Smashbox and Laura Mercier who both have 20-25 SPF in them)
  2. Use a light sunscreen like Coppertone's Clearly Sheer Face Lotion in SPF30 on top of my moisturizer, which acts as a primer for my foundation!

We've all tried facial sunscreens that left your skin SUPER greasy, tacky, took forever to absorb or left a white residue, but Clearly Sheer LITERALLY goes on sheer. That is a promise. I generally put 2-3 pumps on my face, all over my face, on the back of my ears and another pump if I want to get my neck (don't forget your neck!), let it sit for a minute and am able to continue with my beauty routine almost immediately. It plays very well under a primer or as a base directly for your foundation or BB cream.

Other thoughts:

  • After almost two weeks wearing it almost daily, I can proudly state that I had NO clogged pores or breakouts, yay!
  • Heading to the pool? This is water resistent for up to 80 minutes!
  • The sunscreen has a very light scent, which is a real relief to me as I've had a few out of the ordinary allergic reactions to products lately, it's actually a very soothing and calming!

You can find Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face Lotion at your local drug store or pharmacy for about $8.49, so it's cheap enough that you can be a good Samaritan and leave it at your friend's houses to encourage them to protect their skin!

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back
Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.
To celebrate our 14th anniversary, @thecjm and I made the best of it and ordered the set course from @alobaryorkville including some amazing scallops, a duck confit, amazing milk bread & a truly decadent millefeuille, streamed their Spotify playl

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
