Sephora 500 Point Perk: Fresh Skincare Favorites

August 29, 2015 Danielle D'Ornellas
Mah babies!

Mah babies!

Today's post? What I got in my 500 point Fresh Skincare Sephora perk, aka, the bloody redemption that prevented me from qualifying for some of the totally awesome Epic Rewards by only a few points. But, considering how poorly all that went down, I can't be too disappointed with my choice! I love Fresh products and was really excited to test out products that were new to me, as well as snagging some free deluxe sized samples of some favourites. Off we go!

BOOM, paydirt.

BOOM, paydirt.

What I got:

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser - 20 ml ($7.60)
This stuff is a staple for sensitive-skin folk like myself. You can't ever go wrong with this delightfully soft and fresh cleanser. This is great for a travel size but it also lasts longer than expected since you don't need THAT much product to work up a good rinse.
Would I buy a full size? Probably! I'll have to finish the MILLION washes I have right now though.

Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask - 20 ml ($21.60)
Ugh, this stuff smells so good and feels so cool and refreshing. This is a lightweight, almost creamy facemask that is unlike any I've ever used before. But while it FEELS great, I'm not too sure what the ultimate long-term results are.
Would I buy a full size? Probably not, as I don't think it's THAT significantly amazing, and I can't cross that $100 threshold for a face mask.

Fresh Rose Face Mask - 20 ml ($14.40)
I had the opportunity to try out this CRAZY EXPENSIVE mask at Sephora a few months ago at a Sephora event and I knew I was in trouble. It left my skin SO refreshed, and SO smooth and I absolutely love the smell of crushed rose petals, so this was a win. I know the smell can be overwhelming, so I wanted to test out the product with a smaller size first.
Would I buy a full size? If there was a good points offer I could see me splurging on this stuff.

Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil - 5 ml ($7.30)
In just two years I went from being a serum/face-oil naysayer to somebody who CAN'T GET ENOUGH. Give me all the oils all over my face please! This stuff is GOOD if you need deep moisture, which is something I need in the winter time but it's currently sitting in the drawer because it's summer. This little bottle is cute and I'll definitely keep it around for when I don't want to travel with my full-size product!
Would I buy a full size? If I EVER finish my current size? Hah!

LOOK at the swirl in that Black Tea mask. I swear, I didn't do it, I literally opened the container and it looked that perfect.

The downside

Most, but not all, of the 500 point perks at Sephora have five items in them, which is basically the equivalent of five 100 point perks. This package only has four, so it's kinda meeeh. But the thing I DID like about this perk was that I pretty much love/wanted to try all four of the items, AND Fresh skincare are rarely available as 100 point perk at Sephora. So that was good enough for me.

Full value? $51. Not bad for a point perk, but not amazing either. That said, considering I've gotten full use out of this kit I definitely recommend it.

Are you a Fresh fan? Would you buy this kit?

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten πŸ˜‰.
