The Covet Clique, September 19

September 19, 2014 Danielle D'Ornellas

Since I'm on a pretty strict September No-Buy/Low-Buy, I've spent more time looking wistfully at products than purchasing them. To battle my constant stream of wants, I've decided to collect them all into a weekly/bimonthly/whatever 'wish list' of sorts to be evil and give you all some great products to add to your wish list. You're welcome.

Clinique Black Honey Beauty

Clinique Black Honey Beauty

Clinique - Black Honey Beauty Collection - $29

Black Honey is one of Clinique's most recognizable and popular shades, so it's no surprise that this fall they're featuring a collection of the most popular products in the Black Honey shade. The thing is, Sephora had a very similar collection last year with almost every single item. The only new addition is the quickliner instead of mascara, but I think that everybody has a few Clinique mascaras in their makeup drawer, so it's for the best. The gloss and lipstick resemble a sort of blackened raisin hue, the nail polish is a red wine/oxblood colour, and the quickliner is a great, softer alternative to a jet black liner.
The damage? Only $29 at Sephora.

Zoya Nail Polish - Ignite Collection Fall 2014

Zoya Ignite Collection

Don't just settle for boring, leather inspired creme shades this fall, let your fingers do some dazzlin'! The Zoya Ignite collection is a six piece set with a variety of metal metallics with some bite. With a copper, gold, eggplant, grey, dark red and indigo, you've got all the expected fall colours but with some extra shimmer and shine. My favourite of the bunch is Yuna, a grey with copper and gold shimmer in it.You can see Temptalia's swatches here.
The damage? $50 for the full set at Nail Polish Canada or $9.75 each.

MAC Cosmetics Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection

MAC Cosmetics Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection

Do you see me shiver with anticipation? That's because it's only a few weeks until MAC Cosmetics releases their Rocky Horror Picture collection to celebrate 40 years of sex, drag queens, aliens and chainsaws. AKA. 40 years of the Rocky Horror Picture Show!

I don't even know what I'm most excited about with this collection. Some of the products will join the permanent collection, so I'm leaning towards the limited edition 'Bad Fairy' nail polish, 'It’s Not Easy Having a Good Time' burgundy pigment and the 'Frank-n-Furter' lipstick which is a matte raspberry, but I can't decide! Click here to visit Temptalia for a great list of which products are permanent and limited edition!
Damage? All depends on what you're buying. The collection goes on sale on September 29 online and October 2 in stores.

Women in Clothes

Women in Clothes Essay Collection

Ok, so this isn't a beauty product BUT it's an anthology made up of writing from over 600 women about clothes and what they mean. Curated by Sheila Heti who wrote 2010's How Should a Person Be?, this anthology promises to be a thought-provoking and insightful read on the clothes that we wear, and how we view ourselves and other through a lens of fashion and outerwear. It's on my fall reading list and you should add it to yours.
Damage? $22 at Chapters.

That's it for this week! What are you looking forward to this month? Holiday palettes are out soon!

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten πŸ˜‰.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is
