Going Down Under with Dr Roebucks

August 19, 2016 Danielle D'Ornellas

Dr Roebucks Serum, Lips & Face Products

A few weeks ago I had the chance to attend a product launch for Dr Roebucks, an Australia skincare line that went from homegrown secret to international success in just five short years. Founders Zoe & Kim have made the circuit ever since, touting their products along with them on their travels and they don't seem to need to do it twice! Beauty editors love them, bloggers love them, and other brands love them too. So I was really excited to get in on the secret and test out these wonder products!

Taking part in some Sea Berry Therapy with Sibu Beauty

August 7, 2016 Danielle D'Ornellas

Sibu Sea Berry Therapy Products!

Hey guys, I'm back! I survived my whirlwind of a move and have a bunch of products I really want to share with you! The worst part about moving is all the stress and trouble which wrecks HAVOC on my health and my skin. Luckily I was sent a new skincare product to try during this stressful time, so let's chat about Sibu's Sea Berry Therapy line, specifically the Polishing Face Cleanser and Nourishing Face Cream.

A natural beauty-box surprise!

July 23, 2014 Danielle D'Ornellas

I have some of the nicest/most considerate friends around, I SWEAR. For my birthday this year, my lovely friend Tash sent me a customized beauty box that is WAY BETTER than anything I've received from Topbox, Julep, Loose Button and Beauty Box 5 combined. And these are all organic, vegan, raw and/or non-toxic products, so let's dig in...

Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mineral Mascara - I know many ladies who swear by this mascara for sensitive eyes or those concerned with all the gunk in the mascaras you get from Sephora or the drug store. I'm really excited to use this when my Glam Natural vegan sample bites the dust. I've read some really good reviews about this mascara and Pacifica's line hasn't failed me yet. You can buy Pacifica online, but many organic shops/beauty places carry their line of products (the shipping to Canada is high.)

Piggy Paint Trio - I've heard a lot about Piggy Paint the last little while. While I've started purchasing more 3/5/7 FREE nail polish lately, I haven't completely gone towards Piggy Paint because of it's 'kid-friendly' tag. I loved the colour and the finish of the polish, but it took SO LONG to remove, and when I investigated,it's formulated with the intention that kids will chip them off, so it's not as conducive to the lifestyle of a beauty blogger who changes her nails twice a week :) I HIGHLY recommend this for the little budding polish-lover in your life though. A great alternative for kid-polish with really gorgeous results.

Faerhaven Walkerville Beer Soap- Perfect for any beer lover in your life... like me. I like bar soap for the bathroom and this gives me a full, heady smell of all the good-hoppy beer flavour while washing my hands. Who needs flowers when you have an ale to rinse all the dirt away? Also, another bonus, these guys operate out of Harlow, Ontario but sell a lot of their wares in Walkerville (in Windsor) which is basically a little oasis of awesome! They sell in some stores locally and online.

Faerhaven Orange Organic Coconut Milk Facial Bar- This thing smelled amazing but I packed it away in my move and haven't found it yet. I'm a huge fan of orange as an aromatic and coconut oil/milk so I'm sure that WHEN I FIND IT, it'll be pretty popular in my house.

Last but not least... Hurraw Orange Lip Balm - This stuff tastes like an orange creamsicle and it MOISTURIZES my lips while also working as a good base for lipstick. I love it, love it, love it. It's organic, vegan and GMO-Free. The secret to the amazing aromatic orange smell is a mix of TWO different orange peel oils and it makes all the difference in the world. You can get flavours like Earl Grey and Root Beer too. You can buy this online or at local natural beauty product stores.

What are your favourite organic/vegan/eco beauty products?

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back
Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.
To celebrate our 14th anniversary, @thecjm and I made the best of it and ordered the set course from @alobaryorkville including some amazing scallops, a duck confit, amazing milk bread & a truly decadent millefeuille, streamed their Spotify playl

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
