Nest Rollerballs: Indigo & Dahlia & Vines

Nest - Indigo, Dahlia & Vines

During Black Friday last fall, I went a little bit overboard with Sephora's $12 deals page. I mean, I didn't buy everything but a week or so later when a giant box arrived with my eight selections I knew that I needed to wean myself out of beauty shopping for awhile! But the good thing was that I still managed to pick up a great Nest Rollerball trio!

I must admit I find myself still new to the world of frangrances. Due to a sensitivity to aggressively artificial scents and overly strong smells (To this day I can't be in a Lush store for more than 2-3 minutes) I avoided most perfumes and fragrances and stuck to 'safe' brands like Pacifica and usually in a solid perfume way. But I've taken the leap lately to branch out and find other options for me. Because who doesn't want to smell like a million bucks every day? And this brings me to Nest, a brand I'd seen around but had never tried until this Black Friday deal came around.

What is Nest?

Lifestyle aficionados may initially recognize Nest for their line of luxury home fragrances products including room spray, diffusers and candles, but just two years ago they expanded their line to include beauty too! In 2013 they launched Nest Fine Fragrances, a boutique fragrance collection with designs inspired by British artist Mary Delany, whose botanically correct paper mosaics (decoupage) still resonate to this day.

The original collection launched with Amazon Lily, Midnight Fleur and Passiflora, and expanded with several Sephora-exclusive scents as they gained popularity. The rollerball trio kit that I purchased came with two of those exclusives - Indigo and Dahlia & Vines, as well as Midnight Fleur. From the first moment I sniffed Midnight Fleur and its jasmine notes, I was reminded me so much of my mother I passed it on to her, but the other two I kept all for myself!

Dahlia & Vines

During my recent olfactory explorations, I've discovered that while I may not be a fan of actual roses, I do so LOVE the scent of roses in my perfume. Dahlia & Vines was a pleasant surprise for me because it had the key notes of rose with a little bit of peony thrown in. It's a delightfully fresh scent that is perfect for spring (if that ever comes). I find that it doesn't last all day long so it's great for that fresh morning spritz to get you going, but may not be the product you choose if you want to wow from day to night. That said, the rollerball is PERFECT to drop in your purse for pick-me-ups during the day, so a little re-application can't hurt. I also find that I prefer rollerballs because I prefer a concentrated drop on parts of my body, rather than a general spray.

Indigo

Now as much as I love Dahlia & Vines, Indigo is the true winner here. It's a complex aroma that I could easily see making the short-list for my signature scent (that is, if I wasn't so promiscuous with my perfumes!) It's woodsy and sweet, with a bit of bergamot and fig, and a lingering edge of spice which, according to the scent notes is cardamom! This one can last through the entire day and definitely lingers slightly when you leave a room. Not enough to be obnoxious, but enough for a little head whip.

Where can you get Nest?

One of the best things about Nest is that their fragrances are actually really affordable, and the best place to grab these exclusives is obviously Sephora. You can buy one of the full-size rollerballs for $30 or get this kit with five of their featured fragrances for only $46! It's a steal and you can start your fragrance library today.

What scents have you explored lately?

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
