Beauty Challenge: Five by Fall

Beauty Challenge: Five by Fall

Beauty Challenge: Five by Fall

If there's one thing that this beauty blogger likes, it's a BEAUTY CHALLENGE! I'm a member of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network and a bunch of us have banded together to do a beauty challenge from now until the end of the summer (September 23 to be exact.)

(FYI - I wrote this post and picked my products in mid-June, but have only gotten around to posting it now, so the quantity of products left in the images may look a little different than my estimation, but keep reading on!)

The challenge?

Finish 5 products that have been STARING YOU IN THE FACE, by fall, and I'm totally on board!

It sounds easy, right? Wellllll, maybe not. Here are the products that must be eliminated from my stash by the end of September.

The selection!

The selection!

Bath and Body Works Pumpkin Latte Body Wash
As anybody who has seen my bathroom may be able to tell you, I seem to have a wee little addiction to body wash. Despite all my purging and swapping and donating, I still have at least four full containers waiting to be finished after this big boy. And what do I do instead? I keep dipping into my collection of travel-sized bottles of body wash instead (of which I still have at least a half dozen after my recent purge!) One does not need this much body wash, it is clear that I must finish this. I'm a fan of the vanilla scented BBW products, especially this Pumpkin Latte one, because it smells so great and lathers well that there's no reason why I haven't finished it, I just need to commit!

Benefit Hello Flawless in Champagne
This powder and I have a love-hate relationship. The colour only matches me in the summer, which is fine since it's summer now, but I knocked this bad-boy off of my counter last fall and it fell apart. Luckily it was closed so all the powder was shattered but at least it was safe in it's continer. That said, I wasn't able to use it until I transferred it to a Face Shop powder compact ($5) this spring. I like the colour of this powder, but the formula is only so-so for my skin. I just want to finish it off and move on to a brand that suits me better.

Biore Charcoal Cleanser
I wrote a review about the Biore Charcoal Cleanser recently and how it was an alright cleanser for oily skin, but too harsh to use daily. BUT my goal is to use this during the summer, when my face is the oiliest, and see how much I can use up by September. This cleanser, while still being a bit too harsh for daily use, is however particularly great for the summer when your pores are cloggged with sunscreen. So if I shake up my routine and use this every other day, maybe I can make a dent in it and keep my face clean and clear?

C.O. Bigelow Cinammint Lip Gloss
I bought this tube of lip gloss ages ago but only opened last fall. If I don't finish this by September 23rd I'm going to toss it as glosses don't keep very long. While I like the flavour of this gloss, it's too sticky for use outside of the house because my hair gets caught in it and bugs get caught in it when I bike. Yuuuuuuuck. I also seem to own way too many lip balms and I'm always reaching for a different one in my bag. So finishing this tube may turn out to be a bit of a challenge after all.
Product remaining: 50%?

Deep Steep Grapefruit Bergamot Body Butter
This delicious body butter came to me during a Secret Santa swap at Christmas time and it's been sitting on my coffee table ever since. I've made a partial dent in it but I've got SO MANY OTHER body butters on the go that I want to finish this one and move on. At this point I have enough lotion to stay hydrated for years! YEARS! But really, this is a great body butter so using it up shouldn't be too difficult.
Product remaining: 75%

And that's it! I'll probably revisit this challenge mid-August to see how much I have left to finish, and maybe add something new to the list!

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
