Amie Naturally Kind Skincare: Bright Eyes, Petal Perfect & New Bloom

Amie Naturally Kind Skincare: Bright Eyes, Petal Perfect and New Bloom

If you love playing around with makeup and beauty products as much as I do, there's one part of the process you can't skimp on - makeup removal!

Sure, there are cleansing products that claim they remove makeup as well as oil and impurities from your skin, but many of them simple scrub away the surface, instead of cleaning out the product from your pores and actually leaving them properly cleansed — and that's just sloppy business! So for review today I have three products from the Amie Naturally Kind Skincare line that all do their part in keeping my skin clear while also removing my daily 'face'.
Full disclosure: I received these products for review purposes but all opinions are my own.

Amie Petal Perfect 2-in-1 Cleanser & Toner

This is an extremely gentle cleanser — great for those with sensitive skin — that I would recommend on those 'low-to-no' makeup days. The product is a great two-in-one that gentle removes any excess dirt from your face while also doubling as a soft toner. All you need is a few squirts on a cotton pad or towel if you prefer. The toner uses witch hazel, raspberry and apple fruit water, but it leaves a very delicate and faint rose petal scent once you're done. In essence it leaves your skin feeling refreshed without being cloying or heavy.

Amie New Bloom Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes

Let's cut to the chase, I absolutely love these day-to-day cleansing wipes. I've tried many a wipe that was dripping with scented liquid, or was so dry that it was more of an exfoliator, but this one is juuuuust right. I'm always on the hunt for lightly scented or unscented products because I have sensitive skin and I'm happy to report that I've been using these on the regular ever since I received this product. It has a very delicate scent that is barely noticable on the skin (a blend of green tea, pomegranate and cranberry) and it does an amazing job of removing even the most complicated daily makeup. It's even gentle enough to remove eye makeup with no irritation, although it does have some difficulty with the more hardcore of mascaras. More about that below.

Amie Bright Eyes Eye Makeup Remover

I wasn't a big fan of this eyemakeup remover, but I'm not entirely sure it was the product's fault. Let me explain.... My mascara of choice is Benefit's They're Real, a mascara known for giving miraculous fullness but also for being totally ridiculously difficult to remove! I've tried a variety of eyemakeup removers for my mascara but find that the best thing to remove this brand is basic coconut oil. It's unscented, non-irritating and, win, it's cheaper! For the times I DO use a 'lesser' mascara however, I usually use a gentle cleansing wipe to remove the product.

In the end, this product WILL remove a mascara like They're Real... eventually. Unfortunately it requires a lot of elbow-grease to do so and that leads to skin irritation. Basically this eyemakeup remover is just a touch too strong to use for strong mascaras because of how long it takes to remove (ironic, I know), but for a less intense mascara it's probably fine for removal purposes. For these reasons, I think this is the only product of the three that won't join my daily routine.

Looks like it's time for my monthly makeup! This time last year I was only two weeks post-eye surgery so I couldn't wear makeup at all and then all of ~ this ~ happened. I was going through my vanity recently, not that I've had to desire to wear stuff again, and discovered that SO many of my products had gone bad, and, of them, how many were things I had barely touched. I'm not heading to MINIMALISM or anything, but it has been a bit cathartic to throw out things and really take stock of things, whether it's makeup, or just anything else in life. The one thing I feel grateful for in the last time is more of this time to figure out what *I* actually want, even if it's not what I expected one year ago.
Took a half day yesterday and ended up at the lake. It wasn't too cold, but the skyline looked amazing. I'm still pretty sad these days, not gonna lie, but it felt nice to do something outside and I hope this weather sticks around so I can experience

Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back
Today was a holiday, it meant I didn't need to go to work, but when work is just a desk in your living room two feet from your couch, it still feels like you're always at work and never at work, and always waiting until you just turn the laptop back on. Days have no real meaning, time has no meaning, the monotony is just what it is now. Today wasn't a good day. I didn't have to do anything and I couldn't really do anything. Stuff felt pointless, hobbies felt pointless. Everything felt hard and yet I still had to force myself through it. Here's to basically just muddling through. Because we're all gonna have these days and to pretend you don't isn't helping anyone, even yourself.

I even threw on a dress and tights so at least I partially felt like we were really going out! ♥️ Not our most exciting anniversary, but definitely in the top ten 😉.
First pic on the grid in 2021 is a makeup free, eye bag visible, sunshine selfie and I'm not mad about it. The last few weeks have been rough, but so have the last two months of lockdown in Toronto and hell, the last ten months in general. But it is

But it is still nice to see some sunshine, even if it's bouncing off of 1 Bloor East & blasting me in the face as I try to read! 😂☀️
