Ipsy October 2015 Glam Bag

It's Ipsy October 2015 time!

You know when you've been in a relationship for awhile, things start to loose their lustre, their sparkle? This is how I've been feeling about my Ipsy subscription for the last few months. We were so GREAT in the beginning, but what happened? It's just not working anymore. Then, October came along and it's like THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! The spark is back baby, and here's why!

What is Ipsy?

Ipsy is a monthly beauty box subscription that customizes your monthly offerings to your beauty profile. Unlike several other subscription boxes that CLAIM they do the same thing, Ipsy usually has 20+ different products every month so you're more likely to have customized options than boxes that only have 5-10 products in their rotation. Also? Ipsy focuses more on makeup products, which is great because I'm tired of all the skincare products I was receiving from other boxes. Ipsy costs $10, + $4.95 for shipping. But the catch for Canadians is that it's charged in USD so this box can be anywhere from $18-20 depending on the dollar. They do offer points for reviews on their website though, so you can build up to redeem for more products.

Grit, colour and style!

What was in my October 2015 Glam Bag

Peter Lamas - Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub
I'm always wary when I try a new face scrub, as I'm totally against the microbead industry, but this scrub uses apricot grains as their abrasive property. So yay! This scrub uses pumpkin enzymes, apple and almond acids to help clear your skin from debris, and the aforementioned apricot grains to scrub away the dead skin, with some oils and vitamins on the end for hydration. And it's gorgeous.

theBalm Cosmetics - Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed
I'm only recently getting into liquid lipstick and I've quickly learned that not all brands are equal. But I have to say, The Balm's liquid lipstick is just as good as Kat Von D's(I know!). It has a vanilla mint aroma, tingles mildly and dries within SECONDS on your lip. The colour lasted for hours and was only slighly drying on my lips, ever so lightly. I'd totally get some other colours in this formula, I'm sold!

Beauty Without Cruelty - Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion
This. Stuff. Is. The. Best. It's a completely scent-free body lotion in a pretty generous size that really helps to ramp up the moisture without leaving a trace of scent. The ingredients are pretty simple, it uses shea butter, jojoba, kukui nut oil and aloe vera for a super satisfying smooooth skin-feel.

MicaBeauty Cream Eyeshadow in Bronze

MicaBeauty - ipsy EXCLUSIVE Cream Eyeshadow in Bronze
I usually find that eyeshadow I get from beauty boxes are often neutral, bland or blah colours but this month, I got something else. This Mica Beauty eyeshadow is a gorgeous golden, tawny bronze that requires so little product for so much payoff. It also sets nicely and won't just crease or fade off your face during the day This colour lasts! And apparently this product is an Ipsy exclusive!

Emité Make Up - Professional Slant Tweezer
At first when I saw my Glam Bag preview, I was totally uninspired by the pair of tweezers I saw. I mean, who gets excited by a product designed to inflict tiny daggars of pain onto yu? But then I got them and they are basically right up there with Tweezerman! Except, now I literally have no excuse for my brows to not being on fleek, so the pressure rises! Eeep!

The Bag
A square bag, a square bag! (Well, almost. Don't pull out a ruler on me!) I love getting makeup bags in a variety of shapes and sizes so they can be used for more than just makeup (because HOW MANY makeup bags do you need, really?) And it's GOLD. I'm a sucker for anything GOLD!

The Verdict
A win, a win! I've had a few rough months with my Ipsy so I'm glad that this month was a pleasant surprise. I've decided to absolutely stick with this subscription to the end of 2015, so I'll definitely be reviewing November and December, but I think I'm done as of that point. It's been more hit than miss, but I have just too much product right now. And with NYX in Canada? Let's just say there's a lof of places my money could be spent.
