Influenster #FibralogyWorks VoxBox: Shampoo, Conditioner & Thickening Booster

Influenster #FibralogyWorks VoxBox

Just over a month ago I was lucky enough to be sent the latest Influenster #FibralogyWorks VoxBox featuring L'Oreal's latest line of hair products aimed to add lift and thickness to lacklustre hair. As an owner of hair that totally fits that bill, I was interested in testing out the formula to see if it could add some life to my long, thick, but flat locks.

The box included three full-size products, Fibralogy Shampoo, Conditioner and Thickening Booster, which each contain filloxane, a form of silica gel which coats the hair strands, giving them more strength and fullness. L'Oreal describes filloxane thusly:

Paired with our exclusive Fibralogy technology, Filloxane deeply penetrates the hair fibre as a liquid and converts to a solid state. Filloxane remains inside the hair for up to 10 shampoos, creating a cumulative thickening effect. After 5 applications hair feels fuller, more luscious.

So, to sum it up, the promises of the Fibralogy line include:

  • More Volume
  • Thicker, Stronger Hair
  • After 5 applications, hair will feel fuller all the time

Fibralogy post-shower sleekness

So, did it work?

It did... sort-of, but the volume didn't last.

I absolutely DID find that right after showering and drying my hair, I would find my hair was bouncy, shiny and full, but unfortunately this would only last for the day. By the second day my hair was often already falling flat and if I went more than 48 hours without re-washing my hair, I would look so greasy and gross.

When I use other hair products, I usually go 72 hours between washes, a small difference but this has been my standard for years. I also found that after about two to three weeks of use that the ends of my hair became dried out and straw-like, which do NOT work with the sleekness promised in the hair above. I also found that I was losing MORE hair in the shower than I was with my previous shampoo/conditioner (a mix of Herbal Essences and Pantene lightweight formulas) I waited for over a month to verify this wasn't just a bad week or two, but no, I was losing MUCH more hair than normal in the shower.

Unfortunately, I'm going to recommend skipping this line. There are many better drugstore products that can keep your hair clean and allow for volume, from John Frieda or Pantene. Skip this one.

Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
